The West Lake Corridor Commuter Rail Project adds an approximate 8-mile southern branch extension of the South Shore Line to provide direct commuter rail service to the high-growth areas of central and southern Lake County, Indiana. The Project extends south from Hammond, Indiana, to Dyer Indiana.
Quality assurance services were supplied for general contractor, F.H. Paschen for the fabrication shop portion of the project. Fabrication of the CSX Bridge was performed by Industrial Steel Construction in Gary, Indiana.
Q/A services included verification of proper bolting preinstallation verification/rotational capacity testing to AISC and RCSC specifications, oversight and verification of quality control to ensure proper welding procedures and techniques were adhered to, and compliance to AWS specifications, along with approved procedures, in regard to ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing of welds.
